UFC CEO Dana White is making a series of “strong moves” heading into 2025.
Chief among them is his decision to overhaul the UFC rankings, poisoned by the scandalous, know-nothing media he originally enlisted to handle the voting process. Part of the rankings revolution will be led by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who may lean on artificial intelligence (AI) to accomplish the mission.
“We’re working on it right now,” White told TNT Sports. “We’ve literally been working on it all last week and I will have some answers on that soon. The rankings system drives me crazy, from the pound-for-pound to each division — there’s huge mistakes. We literally had meetings this week to work on it. I actually talked to Mark Zuckerberg, too, about AI, so yeah. I’m totally going to fix the rankings. We’re going to make a lot of strong moves here coming into 2025.”
White and Zuckerberg have been in cahoots for several years, much to the chagrin of UFC fans (and fighters). There was talk of having the Meta boss battle Twitter head cheese Elon Musk, but the bout never came to fruition. As far as the UFC rankings are concerned, White has yet to reveal a timeline for his new-and-improved system.
Stay tuned.
