The biggest Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fight could be headed our way.

Jon Jones secured his first UFC Heavyweight title defense at UFC 309 last night (Sat., Nov. 16, 2024) when he stopped Stipe Miocic with a spinning back kick from inside Madison Square Garden in New York City (watch highlights).

After his win, “Bones” announced he plans to continue fighting and not retire, but he wants to be compensated.

Of course, the fight that the entire mixed martial arts (MMA) world wants is for Jones to unify his title with interim Heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. Thankfully, that’s what UFC CEO Dana White wants and is willing to pay.

“He will be!” White told the media during the UFC 309 post-fight press conference that Jones would get paid. “I got Tom waiting outside for me right now. Listen, you let Jon do Jon. Jon’s going to disappear. Not only will you not hear about him or what he’s doing, neither will I. And then he will resurface, and he’ll call, and we’ll get it done.”

With such a big potential fight, White was asked if he’d be open to doing a stadium.

“It doesn’t have the potential to, it’s going to be the biggest Heavyweight fight ever. It’ll probably be the biggest fight we’ve ever done,” White said. “I hate stadiums, Man, I hate them. I like arenas. It’s just such a better vibe. People can see better, you know. Probably not. We don’t know [where it would take place]. We were literally talking about a lot of different options tonight before we came in here.”

Unfortunately, UFC doesn’t have an excellent track record of booking gigantic Heavyweight fights, whether it be Brock Lesnar vs. Fedor Emelianenko or Jones vs. Francis Ngannou.

Hopefully, White and his posse will get the deal done in 2025.
