Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently made a lot of fighters happy by deciding to allow 12-6 elbows in all of their fights inside the Octagon, and now Professional Fighters League (PFL) is following suit.

Sort of…

During a recent post on X, PFL revealed that elbows would finally be allowed inside the “SmartCage,” but only in championship fights. While fight fans will surely take the little win they can get, the move to not allow elbows in all fights is a bit perplexing. But I guess you have to crawl before you walk.

That said, the timing couldn’t come any better since the promotion is gearing up for it’s annual and massive championship event this Friday (Nov. 29, 2024) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which will feature a total of six championship fights.

In the main event, Brendan Loughnane will face off against Timur Khizriev in the Featherweight championship fight, while the co-main event will sees Dakota Ditcheva face off against former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) contender, Taila Santos, for the women’s Flyweight world title.

Plus, Impa Kasanganay will face Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov in the Light Heavyweight tile fight. Furthermore, Shamil Musaev will go toe-to-toe against Magomed Umalatov, while Brent Primus takes on Gadzhi Rabadanov. in the Lightweight bout. Finally, the Heavyweight championship will be contested by Denis Goltsov and Oleg Popov.

The change to being able to throw elbows that night will be an easier adjust to some since a lot of those fighters compete under the Bellator banner, where elbows have always been allowed.
