Professional Fighters League (PFL) held its massive 2024 World Championship event earlier today (Fro., Nov. 29, 2024) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which also included the conclusion of the first-ever PFL MEAN season (full recap of that event here).

Five of the six title fights on the main card ended in spectacular fashion thanks to one finish after another, including Dakota Ditcheva’s destruction of Taila Santos (see it here), Dovlet Yagshimuradov’s absolute obliteration of Impa Kasanganay in the Light Heavyweight championship bout (see it again here), and Shamil Musaev’s third round technical knockout win over Magomed Umalatov at Welterweight.

And we can’t forget about Gadzhi Rabadanov’s knockout of Brent Primus to win the Lightweight championship (highlights), and Denis Goltsov’s first-round submission win over Oleg Popov, which likely earned him a shot at Francis Ngannou (see it here).

The only fight that didn’t result in a highlight-reel finish was the headlining bout, which featured Brendan Loughnane taking on Timur Khizriev, who came into the event with a clean 17-0 record…and he left it 18-0.

For five rounds. Khizriev controlled the pace of the fight, busting up Loughnane — who won the Featherweight tournament in 2022 — with a nasty shot to the bridge of the nose. Throughout the remained of the fight, Loughnane’s nose wouldn’t stop bleeding, and it was made worse by the fact that Khizriev was on point with his striking.

In the end, “Imam” won a decisive unanimous decision over the British brawler, who saw his win streak go up in smoke at three in a row, to win the 145-pound championship and a massive $1 million payday.
