“Sugar” is preggo?

It’s been two weeks since former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight champion Petr Yan returned to prime form against Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Macau, defeating him via unanimous decision from inside Galaxy Arena in Macau, China (watch highlights).

Immediately after his big win, the whole mixed martial arts (MMA) world called for a rematch between Yan and fellow former Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley, to which he lost a controversial split decision in 2022 at UFC 280.

Today (Tues., Dec. 3, 2024), Yan spoke to Ariel Helwani and floated the idea of a potential five-round rematch with “Sugar” even though he feels like he already beat him but also pointed out that his rival could have a … baby bump?

“You know, [if I don’t get a rematch with Merab Dvalishvili], I would lean towards a rematch with Sean O’Malley, but I don’t know what’s going on with him,” Yan said. “He’s out for 9-12 months; maybe he got pregnant…I really want five rounds. I believe it could be a good main event or a featured bout on some big event.”

After O’Malley’s title loss, he revealed that he needed surgery and would be out for “awhile.” However, recently, “Sugar” took to his social media to surprise everyone, say he’s already back training, and tease, “See you soon.”

If Yan does get his rematch wish, he won’t have to wait for O’Malley’s post-term pregnancy.

Perhaps Yan can finally “recover” from his controversial loss.
