A top 10 Strawweight matchup is headed to “Sin City.”
MMAmania.com confirmed with multiple sources today that No. 6 ranked Strawweight Mackenzie Dern will fight No. 8 seeded Amanda Ribas on Sat., Jan 11, in the first main event of 2025, which will take place inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The pair of Strawweights were supposed to collide next week in the co-main event of UFC Tampa, but now they will rematch at UFC Vegas 101. They initially fought back in 2019 at UFC Fight Night 161: “Joanna vs. Waterson,” where Ribas scored a unanimous decision win.

Dern (14-5) got back into the win column, snapping her two-fight losing streak, in her last outing at UFC Saudi Arabia by outpointing Loopy Godinez to secure a unanimous decision. The 31-year-old went 1-1 in 2024 and got Fight of the Night in her loss to Amanda Lemos.

Ribas (13-5) only fought once in 2024, but it was a big one. She headlined her first UFC fight card against two-time former Strawweight champion Rose Namajunas. The Brazilian lost a unanimous decision, but it was a competitive fight (watch highlights).
Ribas has alternated wins and losses since 2021 while switching back and forth between Strawweight and Flywweight.
