Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently announced the main and co-main events for the upcoming UFC 311: “Makhachev vs. Tsarukyan 2” mixed martial arts (MMA) event, scheduled for Sat., Jan. 18, 2025 at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
Read all about it here.
Topping the promotion’s first pay-per-view (PPV) event of the year will be the 155-pound rematch featuring reigning division champion, Islam Makhachev, taking on No. 1-ranked lightweight contender, Arman Tsaruykan. The champ opened at -235 against +200 for the challenger, according to BetOnline.ag.
Makhachev defeated Tsarukyan by unanimous decision at UFC St. Petersburg back in early 2019.
Before that five-round showdown gets underway, newly-crowned bantamweight champion, Merab Dvalishvili, makes his first 135-pound title defense opposite No. 2-ranked Umar Nurmagomedov. Unlike the UFC 311 headliner, the champ opened as the +185 underdog against -220 for the undefeated challenger.
Expect these lines to shift (in both directions) as we get closer to fight night.
Former light heavyweight champions Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill are also slated to hook ‘em up at the UFC 311 event in January. That betting line is just about even, with Prochazka at -103 against -117 for Hill. Both combatants are coming off knockout losses to reigning 205-pound titleholder, Alex Pereira.
Expect more UFC 311 fight card announcements in the coming days.
