Looks like Darren Till was a bit too convincing with his pre-fight threat of kicking Tommy Fury in the head if he was losing their fight on January 18th.

Tommy Fury has pulled out of his upcoming boxing match with former UFC contender Darren Till. The reason? Till’s insistence that he’d headkick the ‘Love Island’ contestant if he was losing in the ring.

“I can’t believe I’m writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on January 18th 2025,” Fury wrote in an Instagram story. “For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is loosing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.”

“I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp. We are working hard to get a new opponent and date. I promise to get a better opponent and better fight for you guys. Good news around the corner.”

This is all pretty hilarious because Till has been on the bench for a long time now attempting to land a big fight. He finally does and it falls apart because he promoted it too well. Would he have actually thrown a kick? We doubt it. But you never really know for sure in the circus of Influencer Boxing, which is where Tommy Fury exists these days.

As for Darren Till, he believes Fury is just giving an excuse.

“I have only just found out that my team knew Tommy Fury was pulling out of the fight Sunday,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “And didn’t want to tell me cos they were trying to get John Fury on the phone but he’s not answering calls apparently. Tommy you was never ready for that date you crazy s—house don’t ever show ur face again!!!”

“For years the Furys have bullied people at press conferences,” he said in a video. “Fury headbutted people from Usyk’s team, he punched glass when he was fighting KSI and tried to intimidate everyone. And it worked up until now. But as I said, it was never going to work with me and I bulled them at the press conference. Now John was leaving the press conference saying they were pulling out because of my tactics I was saying I was gonna use.”

“It’s all mental warfare, I don’t need to kick Tommy Fury in the head to beat him. I would absolutely box his head off and knock him flat out. He has showed you his true colors. Fighting family, my arse.”

Misfits Boxing, which was the promoter of this fight, seems to be siding with Till and will keep him on the January card — hopefully against someone who actually wants to fight.

“Just to clarify Darren was asked to sell the fight and he did,” Till’s manager Lee Eaton wrote in a tweet. “DT even offered to forfeit his entire purse if he broke professional boxing rules – Misfits Boxing have confirmed Darren Till will still be fighting Jan 18th!!!”
