UFC 310 went down last night (Sat., Dec. 7, 2024) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, which saw Alexandre Pantoja retain his Flyweight title by submitting Kai Asakura in the second round (see it again here). In the co-main event, Shavkat Rakhmonov defeated Ian Garry via unanimous decision to keep his title fight against Welterweight champion, Belal Muhammad intact (recap here).

Winner: Alexandre Pantoja

Who He Should Face Next: Brandon Royval 3 … (hesitantly)

Since Demetrious Johnson turned down Pantoja’s request for a fight, he will have to look within the UFC ranks to keep chugging along. And that will be tough to do seeing as how the Brazilian champion has defeated most top contenders. The man who is deserving based on rankings is recent wins is Brandon Royval. That’s because he is currently ranked No. 1 in the division and is on a two-fight win streak. The problem? Pantoja has already defeated Royval two times, with one of those being his first title defense at UFC 296 a year ago. That said, everyone else in the Top 5 isn’t exactly hot enough to warrant a title shot.

Winner: Shavkat Rakhmonov

Who He Should Face Next: Belal Muhammad title fight

After taking Garry’s “0,” Ralhmanov will now attempt to snap Muhammad’s 11-fight unbeaten streak, all while taking his shiny 170-pound strap. Rakhmonov already had the fight locked in before “Remember the Name” bowed out, and by taking out Garry, Rakhmonov’s stock only shot up. And he will be the fan favorite come fight night because the Las Vegas fans rained down the boos once Muhammad stepped in the cage for this face-off.

UFC 310: Gane v Volkov

Winner: Ciryl Gane

Who He Should Face Next: It’s complicated…

Gane escaped “Sin City” with a split-decision win that many felt should have gone Volkov’s way. Nevertheless, “Bon Gamin” is now 2-0 over the Russian big man, despite looking less than spectacular. As far as who he should face next, that’s a bit tricky because no one knows what Jon Jones’ next move will be. That’s not to say Gane deserves a rematch against “Bones,” he doesn’t. But a fight between Gane and Tom Aspinall would be great if Jones decided he wants to face Alex Pereira next. If Jones and Aspinall do fight in 2025, then Gane could very well be in line to face the winner, like it or not.

Winner: Bryce Mitchell

Who He Should Face Next: Doo Ho Choi

Mitchell got back in the win column with a spectacular knockout win over Kron Gracie (see it again here), his first win in over a year. Prior to his fight, Doo Ho Choi — who won in the opening fight of the night by with his own third-round technical knockout (TKO) win over Nate Landwehr, called for a showdown against “Thug Nasty.” And quite frankly, it’s a matchup I would not mind seeing. Both men bring an intense pace to the Octagon and are as exciting as they come, which would surely make them favorites to walk away with an extra $50,000 in post-fight bonus cash.
