Fighters break toes, judges break hearts.

If former interim heavyweight champion, Ciryl Gane, appeared to regress in his UFC 310 victory over Alexander Volkov, which did not come without its share of controversy, it’s probably because “Bon Gamin” was fighting with three broken toes.

“It wasn’t only the big toe but also the two metatarsals that gave out on me at the beginning of the first round,” Gane (13-2) said in his Instagram stories. “Which basically means I had no foot, but we didn’t give up and used our brain to fight.”

Gane’s split decision victory over Volkov marked his second straight win after losing his Jon Jones title fight back in early 2023, which will likely keep him seated at No. 2 in the heavyweight division, one spot ahead of the towering “Drago.”

UFC 310 marked the second time Gane defeated Volkov by decision.

“No comments!” Volkov (38-11) wrote on social media. “Thank you for your support! Everyone has seen everything!”
