Edwards is set to return for the UFC’s big London return in March, and Masvidal wants to be his opponent.

Jorge Masvidal vs. Leon Edwards is a fight fans have been clamoring for since “Gamebred” hit “Rocky” with the three piece and soda back in 2019. Now Jorge says it could be on deck for the UFC’s return to London in March 2025.

Masvidal shared a clip from The OGs podcast where he suggested the fight could happen if he doesn’t end up on an as-of-yet unannounced show in Florida.

“I’m gonna fight April. Miami is what I’m thinking,” he said. “The UFC hasn’t officially signed off on that. Some interesting offers on the table. I’m just waiting to see who it is.”

“You know, I’ve heard rumors that they want me to go to England,” Masvidal added. “There’s a certain somebody over there that I already served them up a meal before, and they were like, ‘Yo, this dude is hungry. He wants to eat again. Can you do deliveries?’”

“I said, ‘Sure, let me look at my calendar. I think I might be free in March.’ I can serve him up the hot plates. Uber Eats across across the pond. I’m going across the pond right to England. I’ll show up there and deliver the meal, you know? So UFC just has to let me know.”

Masvidal was given special permission to leave the UFC and box back in 2023, but quickly learned the grass isn’t always greener outside the promotion. He boxed Nate Diaz in a messy event that did so poorly on pay-per-view that Diaz is suing Fanmio for millions in unpaid purse. Masvidal refuses to say whether he got hosed too, but it’s clear he’s done messing around as a freelancer.

Even though it’s past it’s due date, Leon Edwards vs. Jorge Masvidal is a cool fight. Even fans in the U.K. aren’t particularly pumped for “Rocky” fights without an interesting opponent, and Jorge fits that bill. If Edwards’ claim that he’s headlining UFC London is true, they’ll need something exciting to carry the card.

For all of his big talk, UFC brass doesn’t sound particularly excited about his return to the promotion. “Gamebred” has a lot of ideas and visions of big fights. But Dana White has suggested we might not see the 0-5 fighter in the octagon again. Between the size of his purse and the amount of gas left in his career gas tank, Jorge may serve the UFC better as a lesson to other fighters: be careful what you ask for, because you might just get it.
