Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury came face-to-face at the conclusion of their final press conference on Thurs., just two days in front of their heavyweight boxing rematch scheduled for Sat. night (Dec. 21, 2024) LIVE on DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Longest staredown in history?

I’m not sure if metrics exist for such a thing but the face off between Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos earlier this year in Perth — which lasted more than three minutes — feels rushed compared to the epic, 11-minute staring contest between Usyk and Fury, who refused to break eye contact.

Let’s hope this weekend’s rematch is just as intense.

“He is one of these enigmas because he is kind of silly — but once he gets in the ring it is all business,” former WBC light middleweight world champion told DAZN. “Oleksandr Usyk is a great champion because of footwork. Footwork and great fight IQ. How we dissect opponents from that southpaw point of view.”
