Rising mixed martial arts (MMA) prospect Reese “Baby Goose” Watkins returns to action against Christopher Ewert this weekend (Sun., Jan. 12, 2025) for the mega-regional card Fury FC 100 (details here), which is going down inside Imagen Venues in Houston, Texas and is exclusively on UFC Fight Pass

While he has a tough fight in front of him this weekend, Watkins is also looking towards the future. The 24-year-old plans to make a run for season nine of Contender Series this summer and wants a notable name on his mantle.

“I want to fight Jordan Wright; I’ve been trying to get that fight for a minute, but I don’t know what the hell he’s doing up in Beverly Hills,” Watkins told MMAMania.com recently. “And no disrespect, but I’m trying to get my name out there. He’s just someone I’m trying to make my name off of. So it’s Jordan Wright.”

A former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter is always a good name to put on a fighter’s resume, and “The Beverly Hills Ninja” is a good choice – mainly because he was expected to fight for the Fury FC Middleweight title last year, but the fight was ultimately scrapped.

Two other names in the Fury FC Middleweight division are Contender Series veteran Zach Borrego and current champion Adam Vigil, but Watkins isn’t as interested in them.

“I don’t think Zach Borrego has it in him anymore. I think his name is Adam Vigil- I don’t know if he’s taking too many steroids to make 185 lbs anymore,” Watkins said. “I don’t think Jordan Wright is an easy fight. I just think I can beat him. Zach, I do think that’s an easy fight. Zac Borrego f—king sucks. And then Adam Vigil, he takes steroids, so, you know, get that shit out of here. But definitely. Jordan Wright, that’s what I want most, and then, hopefully, the Contender Series. Anything that gets me closer to that goal. But I’m not picky; say a name, and I’ll take it.”
