Alhassan is okay physically if not mentally after a tough loss to Cesar Almeida at the UFC Apex on Saturday night.
Abdul Razak Alhassan is okay after being on the receiving end of a scary knockout at UFC Fight Night: Dern vs. Ribas 2 last night (Sat. Jan. 11) in Las Vegas.
Alhassan hurt his opponent Cesar Almeida in the dying minute of the first round and pressed hard to finish the fight up against the cage. That left an opening for Almeida to fire back with a punch that connected right on the jaw, putting the 39-year-old middleweight to sleep (watch the finish here).
“Judo Thunder” was stiff legged after the KO, and as Almeida was announced as the winner we got a glimpse of Alhassan being lifted up by commission members on extremely wobbly feet. He was taken to the hospital for examination.
“I’M SORRY FANS, I GOT GREEDY AND I GOT CAUGHT. NO EXCUSES, THERE’S NOTHING I CAN DO BUT CRY MYSELF TO SLEEP”

For those worried about his condition, Abdul released a video on social media where he appeared heartbroken but back to his full senses.
“I’m sorry fans, I got greedy and I got caught,” he said. “No excuses, I’m sorry to my fans … my two fans. I got greedy, I went for it, and I got caught. There’s nothing I can do but cry myself to sleep.”
Alhassan is now 2-6-1 over his past five years in the UFC, which means this may have been the last time we see him in the octagon. The sport of MMA is a brutal one indeed.
