Jenkins was re-admitted to the hospital following a UFC 312 loss due to fractured cartilage in his throat.
It was, indeed, better to be safe than sorry.
Featherweight up-and-comer, Jack Jenkins, was initially transported to a local hospital “Down Under” with a possible jaw fracture (like this) after a crushing rear-naked choke submission loss to Gabriel Santos (watch highlights) immediately following UFC 312 this past weekend (Sat., Feb. 8, 2025) in Australia.
That aggressive submission earned Santos a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus.
Jenkins, meanwhile, was originally sent home from the hospital following some post-fight medical tests after his jaw appeared to be fine; however, according to Australian MMA on social media, “Phar” was re-admitted after a closer look at his scan found fractured cartilage in his thyroid.
Ouch.

“The injury occurred toward the end of the first round when Jenkins suffered a fracture to his thyroid cartilage leading to an air leak into his chest and neck,” the report from Australian MMA read. “Following the round, he reported numbness and a loss of strength in his left arm.”
Jenkins somehow continued to compete for another 1.5 rounds, getting caught in the rear-naked choke two minutes into the third frame. While the injury is considered serious, Jenkins’ team is hoping he’ll be released within the next 24 hours.
