Lightweight fighter Antonio ‘Mandingo’ McKee (26-4-2) has been stripped of his Maximum Fighting Championship title after coming in seven-pounds overweight for his MFC 32 bout versus Brian Cobb.
The news report was confirmed by Sherdog.com on Thursday with MFC officials, who conducted the official weigh-ins for the event today in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
McKee will still face Cobb on the card but the two will now fight in a three-round bout instead of a five-round title match.
MFC 32: Bitter Rivals is scheduled to take place on January 27, 2012 at the Mayfield Inn Trade and Conference Centre in Edmonton, with the main card airing live on HDNet. The event is headlined by a light heavyweight bout between UFC vet Wilson Gouveia and Canadian Dwayne Lewis. The two are set to meet in the promotions first ever five-round non-title bout main event.
McKee had been on a fourteen fight undefeated streak before he was signed by the UFC and appeared at UFC 125 just over a year ago. At the Las Vegas event, ‘Mandingo’ would end up losing a split decision to Jacob Volkmann and subsequently released by the UFC. McKee did earn fight once since then, earning a submissoin win over Jai Bradney at a CFC 18 event in Australia.
