Press Release – MONTREAL (QUEBEC) February 16th, 2012 – The moment MMA fans have been waiting for is just months away as bout agreements were signed earlier this week for the long anticipated return to the cage of one of the country’s most popular fighters, STEVE “THE BOSS” BOSSE (9-1; 7 KO, 1 SUB). However, there will be no tune-up fight as part of this comeback as Bosse will be stepping into the cage with former world champion RENATO “BABALU” SOBRAL (36-9; 9 KO, 14 SUB) in the main event of Instinct 4 this May in Montreal.

We last saw Bosse in action last October as he sent world-renowned striker Houston Alexander crashing to the mat with a vicious elbow to the head, securing a knockout victory in the main event of Instinct 1. It was without a doubt the greatest night of his career, but the win came with a hefty price: a broken hand that would keep him out of action for over 6 months, halting his momentum. With surgery and therapy behind him, “The Boss” is now ready to return home to the cage. Bosse is a fan favorite who never backs down and he knew that in order to continue his climb up the world rankings, there was only one way to go about it: put his incredible 7-fight win streak on the line against the best light heavyweight available. His request was fulfilled as Brazilian Renato Sobral jumped at the opportunity to come to Canada for this fight.

Babalu has seen it all and done it all in mixed martial arts. A former world champion with the Strikeforce organization, his list of victims is a veritable who’s who of MMA legends: Maurice Smith, Jeremy Horn, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (twice), Chael Sonnen and Robbie Lawler among others. Add to that some main event experience with fighters the likes of Dan Henderson, Chuck Liddell and Fedor Emelianenko and you’ll easily understand why it takes a lot to impress Mr. Sobral, yet Bosse aims to do just that. Fans can be certain that Sobral, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, will be coming into this fight in peek physical condition as he has been working with good friend Wanderlei Silva as part of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil reality show in preparation for the fight and will be cornered by none other than one of the best heavyweights in the world, Fabricio Werdum.

“This is without a doubt the biggest MMA fight ever presented in Quebec” said a proud Instinct President Stephane Patry. When asked what else was in the works for Instinct 4, he commented: “A lot depends on the outcomes of certain fights at Instinct 3 on March 31st in Sherbrooke. However, I can say that we are talking to some big name international fighters in order to give fans the fights they want to see: their favorites taking on the world elite.”

The exact date of Instinct 4 will be confirmed in the days to come as negotiations with various venues are currently ongoing however the event is slated for this May.
