A welterweight bout between ‘Relentless’ Roger Bowling (10-2) and Strikeforce newcomer Brandon ‘White Steel’ Saling (8-5) has been added to the upcoming March 3rd Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey event.
The addition was confirmed by Strikeforce officials who spoke to MMAjunkie.com Tuesday.
Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey is set to take place on March 3, 2012 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The main card will air on Showtime, while the prelim card will be shown live on Showtime Extreme. The Bowling vs. Saling match will be featured on the prelim portion of the event.
Bowling was last in action last December at the Melendez vs. Masvidal event. His opponent, Jerron Peoples, weighed in ten pounds heavy for the bout, which was changed to a 181-lbs catchweight match. ‘Relentless’ finished Peoples in 42-seconds of the first round via knockout. The win allowed Bowling to bounce back from a second loss to Bobby Voelker, putting Bowling’s record at 2-1 in his last three.
Saling will make his Strikeforce debut at the Ohio event and comes into the bout with a second round knockout victory on Feb. 18 at a NAAFS Caged Vengeance 10 event. ‘White Steel’ made one appearance with Bellator last November, a decision loss at Bellator 59. Saling is 5-1 over his last six matches, finishing five opponents by (T)KO and one by submission.
