For the second time in as many UFC fights, Alistair Overeem finds himself on the wrong side of a drug testing controversy.

The wound is still fresh, but here’s what we know so far: Overeem failed a surprise drug test issued on Tuesday, March 27, following the UFC 146 press conference. Overeem’s testosterone/epitestosterone levels ranked above a 10-to-1 ratio, far exceeding the 6-to-1 limit. The heavyweight now has a right to request testing of his “B” sample, and will be required to appear in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) if he hopes to seek licensure.

In the interim, it appears as if Overeem’s heavyweight championship fight against Junior dos Santos at UFC 146 is in severe jeopardy, throwing the UFC’s entire heavyweight extravaganza into disarray.

Following the NSAC’s announcement, a surge of Overeem’s contemporaries took to Twitter, along with dos Santos’ management team and BALCO founder Victor Conte, to weigh-in on the mess.
