Strikeforce matchmakers appear to have finally gotten off their butts and are starting to book fights for upcoming summer events.

Recently news broke of a couple of fights coming up, including a welterweight title match between Nate Marquardt and Tyron Woodley.

Now news comes via MMAFighting.com that the promotion is booking another title bout for this August, pitting Women’s bantamweight champion Ronda ‘Rowdy’ Rousey (5-0) against former champion Sarah Kaufman (15-1).

The event is expected to take place this August at a yet-to-be announced Strikeforce event.

Rousey won the Strikeforce title this past March, after defeating former champ Miesha Tate with an armbar submission. It was ‘Rowdy’s’ fifth straight armbar finish, all of which have come in the first round, but the bout with Tate was the first to go past the first minute.

Rousey was recently called out by another former champ, Marloes Coenen after the Dutch fighter earned a win at last months inaugural Invicta Fighting Championship show. It appears as if her appeal fell on deaf ears.

Kaufman has won three straight since losing the strap to Coenen back in October 2010. Most recently the Canadian won a Majority Decision victory in March at the same Tate vs. Rousey event in Columbus, Ohio defeating fellow countrywoman Alexis Davis in a rematch. Kaufman also earned wins over Liz Carmouche and Megumi Yabushita since losing the title.
