A long-promised trip to Nottingham, England will materialize, as the UFC on Monday confirmed that it would visit the city for a Sept. 29 event which will be UFC on FUEL 5.
The show — the first UK event since last November’s UFC 138 — will emanate from the Capital FM Arena.
In announcing the date, the promotion also confirmed its first two fights for the show, with the first matching up UK bantamweight contender Brad Pickett against Canada’s Yves Jabouin.
The 33-year-old Pickett has split his last four bouts, but most recently defeated Damacio Page in a second-round rear naked choke win at UFC on FUEL 2. He’s 21-6 overall.
Jabouin has had a more successful recent stretch, capturing thee fights in a row although two of them came via split decision. Following his unanimous decision victory over Jeff Hougland in May, he’s 18-7.
The other announced bout pits a pair of TUF alumni, with TUF Live semifinalist Andy Ogle facing Akira Corassani. It will be the official UFC debuts for both men. Ogle is 8-1 in his pro career while Corassani is 9-3 with 1 no contest.
While those are the only two confirmed fights, the event is a likely landing spot for Nottingham native Dan Hardy, who recently ended a four-fight losing streak in spectacular sytle by knocking out Duane “Bang” Ludwig.
