UFC 148 was held on July 7, 2012, at the Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz (16-11-1) and former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin (19-7) settled their trilogy in the ‘Fight of the Night’ co-main event. Check out the video highlights below.

For more on Griffin’s unanimous decision victory, catch the play-by-play from MMA Fighting’s Ben Fowlkes.

Round 1: Head kick by Griffin to start things off, and then he circles straight into a right hand from Ortiz. Griffin tries to get the front kick working, since it did so well in the second fight, but Ortiz shoots in and nabs the takedown, then lands some decent strikes as Griffin struggles frantically to get up. Griffin manages to get to his feet and he fires off a combo. Another takedown attempt by Ortiz, this one from farther out, and Griffin stops it. Ortiz is looking a little slow in the exchanges now. He tries to grab Griffin in a clinch and gets shoved into the fence. Lunging hook by Ortiz misses. Superman punch by Griffin. Ortiz ends the round with one more takedown attempt, but can’t quite finish it. He’s looking a little winded as he heads to the corner. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Ortiz.

Round 2: Ortiz comes out swinging and drops Griffin early. Griffin gets back to his feet quickly, but he’s wobbly and Ortiz tags him a couple more times to keep him reeling. Griffin clinches up and recovers. Stiff jab by Griffin. Another jab followed by a right hand, which snaps Ortiz’s head back. Griffin bounces around on the outside, firing from a distance as he checks the time. A hard right knocks Ortiz back. He appears to be cut on his nose, and Griffin keeps the pressure on heading into the final minute of the round. Griffin snaps out the front kick again, and this time it lands. Ortiz hears the ten-second warning and shoots for a takedown, but all he gets for his trouble are some hammerfists to the side of the head before the horn. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Griffin.

Round 3: Griffin gets busy with low kicks and punch combos to start the third, and Ortiz is kept largely on the defensive. Griffin fires a left hook, but Ortiz gets there first with one of his own and it sits Griffin down for a moment, though he’s back up in a hurry. Takedown by Ortiz, followed by some elbows from Griffin’s guard. Griffin tries for a kimura off his back, but can’t get it. Griffin uses the fence to help him up with two minutes left, then turns Ortiz against the fence before backing away. Both men are showing signs of wear now, but still firing off. Griffin still seems capable of the more active combinations, but Ortiz keeps coming back with one big right at a time. At the ten-second warning, they both fire off with flurries until the horn sounds. Ortiz raises his hands in victory, and Griffin immediately turns and walks out of the Octagon, to boos from the fans. Either the UFC or good sense gets the better of him, and he comes back. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 for Ortiz, by the way.
