Jon Wertheim may not be on board with MMA in the Olympics – for logistical reasons – but he doesn’t believe that type of mainstream sports acceptance is far off.
Wertheim, a senior writer for Sports Illustrated and author of several books, including the critically acclaimed “Blood in the Cage,” said he sees MMA continuing to grow into the type of sport that will see regular coverage in his home magazine.
“You can’t deny the audience and the in-roads they’ve made,” Wertheim on Tuesday told MMAjunkie.com Radio. “I think we’re going to see more and more coverage in Sports Illustrated.”
