Phil Davis came to UFC on FOX 4 looking to restart his lost momentum stemming from his recent defeat at the hands of Rashad Evans. Instead, Davis will have to wait even longer.
Early in the first round of his bout with Wagner Prado, Davis reached out with his left hand to push the charging Prado away. Instead, his fingers raked across Prado’s right eye. A timeout was called, but Prado’s eye quickly swelled and the referee ruled that Prado could not continue.
The result of the unintentional foul was a no contest.
The referee’s decision was a bit controversial, as Prado immediately protested his ruling to halt the action. UFC broadcasters Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg insinuated that there may have been a language barrier for the Brazilian Prado in communication the extent of his vision issues.
At any rate, the two left with no damage to their personal records.
Davis is 9-1 with 1 no contest, while Prado keeps his unbeaten streak intact at 8-0 with 1 no contest.
