Bellator’s decision to let its bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas fight outside the organization backfired Saturday night.

Dantas (14-3) was knocked out by Team Quest’s Tyson Nam (12-4) in just 1:40 at a Shooto Brazil 33: Fight for BOPE 2 non-title fight in Brazil. The loss snapped Dantas’ seven-fight winning streak. He is still expected to defend his Bellator title against Marcos Galvao in the future.

Nam extended his winning streak to four in a row with the knockout. The win was by far the biggest of his career.
