A middleweight bout between former Strikeforce title contender Tim Kennedy (14-4) and Trevor ‘Hot Sauce’ Smith (10-2) has been announced for the promotions upcoming November 3, 2012 event.
Kennedy confirmed the news on Twitter this afternoon via Twitter (@TimKennedyMMA).

The event, formerly addressed as Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir before UFC heavyweight Frank Mir pulled out due to injury, is scheduled for Nov. 3 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This bout should appear on the SHOWTIME broadcasted main card, while matches on the preliminary card will air on SHOWTIME Extreme.
Kennedy lost a decision to division champ Luke Rockhold this past July, seeing an end to his two fight win streak. The former soldier earned victories against Robbie Lawler, by decision in July 2011, and Melvin Manhoef, via submission in March 2011. Under the Strikeforce banner Kennedy is 5-2 in the middleweight division having fought for the 185-lbs title twice, unsuccessfully.
‘Hot Sauce’ took a fight outside of the Strikeforce cage last June, earning a first round submission victory at a BXC – The Rise event. The win put him back into the win column following a first round TKO loss to Gian Villante this past January under the Strikeforce banner. Currently Smith holds a 2-1 record with the Zuffa owned company with wins over TJ Cook and Keith Berry.
