One of Strikeforce’s top welterweights is finding work elsewhere during the promotion’s extended break.
Jordan Mein will face former UFC veteran Forrest Petz at The Score Fighting Series on Nov. 23 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the promotion announced Wednesday. According to a press release, Mein is “on loan” to the SFS.
Strikeforce announced last week that its Nov. 3 event has been canceled and their next event will only take place in January. The promotion’s last event was held in August.
The 23-year-old Mein, who fights out of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, most recently defeated Tyler Stinson via unanimous decision at a Strikeforce event in July. The 25-8 fighter is 2-1 in the Zuffa-owned promotion . He defeated Marius Zaromskis at a SFS event in June 2011.
Petz (25-9) has won his last four fights in a row. “The Meat Cleaver” last fought for the UFC in 2010.
The SFS main card will air on The Score in Canada and AXS TV in the United States.
