Junior dos Santos suffered a 25-minute beating on Saturday night, but he did top his opponent Cain Velasquez in one category: salary. According to the Nevada state athletic commission, which released fighter pay information on Monday morning, dos Santos was the top earner at UFC 155 in disclosed pay, earning a $400,000 purse for his main event fight.
Velasquez, who recaptured the belt in a lopsided decision, received $200,000 total, with a $100,000 purse as well as a $100,000 win bonus.
The numbers released by the commission do not include any additional bonuses that may be written into fighter contracts, including nightly bonus awards for the evening’s best fight, knockout and submission, or pay-per-view revenue, which is received by some top headliners.
Yushin Okami was the next highest earner, taking home a total of $84,000 for his win over Alan Belcher in a main card fight. Co-main evener Jim Miller was right behind him with $82,000.
