Strikeforce died on Saturday. The very next week, which was two days later, Bellator makes its debut on Spike. If there is a more seamless transition of power for those organizations largely considered the best alternative to the UFC, I’ve never seen it. As my radio co-host R.J. Clifford said, “talk about passing the torch.”
Tomorrow we finally get the long-awaited debut of Bellator on Spike, and there card is a slightly weird but very good one. Two championship fights with four of their best fighters plus the Bellator debut of Renato Sobral. What’s not to love?
Saturday we get a UFC card that’s flying under the radar but is actually quite good. Michael Bisping fights for a title shot when he takes on Vitor Belfort, middleweights Ronny Markes and Andrew Craig take on the toughest tests of their career, Nik Lentz tries to keep the magic alive at featherweight, Edson Barboza returns to action and much more.
All of that, by the way, comes courtesy free television.
