Jake Paul is the hottest free agent in combat sports.

But it’s not yet known if “The Problem Child” will continue his celebrity boxing career — where he stands at 5-0 with four knockouts — or make good on this promise to cross over to MMA.

Where Eagle FC will be waiting.

“The doors of Eagle Fight Club always open for you and your team,” promoter and former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov wrote on Twitter.

“Deal,” Paul responded. “Only if I fight you first.”

Fat chance.

Nurmagomedov retired from MMA while still under contract to UFC. So even if “The Eagle” somehow agreed to fight Paul — who is several weight classes larger — he would also need to convince Dana White and Co. to sign off on the fight.

And a lost payday.

For now, we’ll have to settle for Eagle FC’s stateside debut, which takes place this Fri. night (Jan. 28) in Miami. Among the top billed fighters are Tyrone Spong, Serghei Kharitonov, Rashad Evans, and Ray Borg, just to name a few.

Jon Jones

ESPN Analyst and former UFC Middleweight Champion, Michael Bisping didn’t seem to be a fan of Jon Jones’s Twitter antics during UFC 270.

Jones took to the social media platform during the main event and voiced his opinion on the heavyweight unification fight between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane. He went on to state that he would be able to break even more MMA records amid the current state of the current Heavyweight division.

During Bisping’s latest episode of his ‘Believe You Me’ Podcast he questioned Jones’s level of respect and asked the former UFC number one pound-for-pound fighter to “stop tweeting and start fighting”.

“Jon Jones tweeting there, inserting himself once again. As I said last night, stop tweeting and start fighting. Listen, I’m a fan of Jones. You know, but you’re not competing… You’re not putting it on the line so to sit there on the sidelines and talk a little bit of sh**… I get it. He’s entitled to do that. Anyone can jump on Twitter but it isn’t the best look. You moved up from light heavyweight, what was it two years ago now? It’s been a while since his last fight,” said Bisping.  (Transcribed by SportsKeeda)

‘Bones’ decided to relinquish his Light Heavyweight belt in 2020 so he could prepare for his jump up to Heavyweight, in hopes of becoming a two-division champion. To which he admitted it would “take some time.”

Henry Cejudo applauds Jon Jones as he names him his ‘GOAT’ of MMA

After Jones was suspended from long-time gym ‘JacksonWink’ by co-founder and coach Mike Winklejohn. The former 205lb Champ began to train alongside, Henry Cejudo, Davison Figueiredo, Zhang Weili, and Head Coach Eddie Cha – just to name a few – at Fight Ready gym in Arizona.

New workout partner, Cejudo praised Jones for his elite-level MMA IQ and ability during a recent interview on the ‘Weighing In podcast’. ‘Triple C’ claimed Jones is the best MMA fighter of all-time. Demetrious Johnson comes in second place according to Cejudo.

“I tell you what, man. That dude is a gifted a** human, bro. Like as a fighter you know what I mean. It’s like this dude has natural abilities. I am a lightweight and I can’t even see that he just threw. You are a heavyweight… Jon’s a competitor. He wants to put a stamp on top of a stamp. He is already the GOAT in the sport of mixed martial arts. There’s nobody there. I think the second person that comes behind him is Demetrious Johnson just based on his title defenses… Jones is in a mountain of his own,” said Cejudo.

Do you think Jon Jones will have success at heavyweight?

Jared Cannonier, Khamzat Chimaev, Conor McGregor

UFC middleweight contender Jared Cannonier has described surging welterweight star Khamzat Chimaev as “the second coming of Conor McGregor.”

In just four appearances in the Octagon, Chimaev has established himself as one of the hottest rising prospects in the UFC and a likely future champion. Not many have had as big an impact in as few outings as the Chechen-born Swede has.

After three wins in a modern-UFC record space of just 66 days in 2020, Chimaev firmly cemented his status as a name to watch. Those victories bought such prominence and attention that he was even matched up with top contender Leon Edwards multiple times.

After that matchup fell through and Chimaev was sent to the sidelines with a nasty bout of COVID-19, the 27-year-old’s charge was briefly stalled. But despite over a year away from the cage, “Borz” picked up where he left off last October at UFC 267.

Against ranked-contender Li Jingliang, Chimaev showcased his dominance with a fourth UFC finish in as many fights. Inside the opening round, the Allstars Training Center product rag-dolled “The Leech” to the mat and choked him unconscious.

From fans and pundits to UFC President Dana White and play-by-play commentator Jon Anik, many in the MMA community are extremely high on Chimaev. That includes current #3-ranked middleweight contender Cannonier.

During an interview with LowKick MMA, “The Killa Gorilla” praised Chimaev’s perfect start on MMA’s biggest stage. The veteran even suggested he could be the “second coming” of the sport’s biggest superstar, former two-division UFC champion McGregor.

“You know, (he’s a) hot prospect right now. Dana’s pretty hot on him, and from what he’s shown in the Octagon, the dude looks like the second coming of Conor McGregor,” said Cannonier. “But I don’t even like to make that comparison because he is his own self, he is his own man, and he’s doing his own thing. I tip my hat to the man. He’s doing a good job… If he comes up to ’85 that’d be cool too. The more the merrier as far as I’m concerned.”

Chimaev Could Face A Former Title Challenger Next

If Chimaev is to come close to reaching the heights of the “Notorious” irishman in the UFC, he’ll have to get past some top contenders on his way to 170-pound gold. The first of those challenges looks set to come against the #2-ranked Gilbert Burns.

A matchup between “Borz” and “Durinho” was initially rumored for this month. After talk of it appeared to die down, a recent report and subsequent social media posts from both seemingly hint towards a meeting in the Octagon later this year.

Chimaev, currently ranked #11 in the division, could secure a shot at Kamaru Usman’s welterweight title with a victory over Burns, who fell short of reaching the mountaintop at UFC 258 last February.

Would you like to see Khamzat Chimaev face Gilbert Burns next?

UFC

Dan Hooker is returning to featherweight.

The 31 year-old “Hangman” (21-11) will collide with “Almighty” English sensation Arnold Allen (17-1) at the upcoming UFC London event at O2 Arena on March 19, the promotion announced on Monday, a “Fight Night” card expected to air on both on ESPN+ and ESPN.

Hooker put together a 7-1 run at 155 pounds and managed to crack the Top 5 of the division; however, three losses in his next four fights — against the best in his weight class — sent the City Kickboxing captain back to his old stomping grounds.

As for Allen, who turned 28 just last week, he can seemingly do no wrong at 145 pounds. “Almighty” made his UFC debut in June 2015 with a victory over Alan Omer and hasn’t looked back, winning his next seven fights over a span of four years.

UFC London will be headlined by the heavyweight showdown between Alexander Volkov and Tom Aspinall. Elsewhere on the card, Jake Hadley collides with Allan Nascimento at 125 pounds, while Paddy Pimblett makes his lightweight return against Rodrigo Vargas.

Stay tuned for more UFC London fight card announcements in the coming days.
