Fedor Emelianenko was a no-show for Monday’s episode of “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani, leaving M-1 Global’s Director of Operations, Evgeni Kogan, to answer questions in his stead.

Kogan spent much of his time on the show shooting down rumors about M-1 Global’s most famous fighter, saying that he did not think Emelianenko was seriously considering retirement and insisting that neither Emelianenko nor M-1 Global is avoiding a fight with Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem.

“We have no problem with fighting anyone,” Kogan told MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani. “Fedor doesn’t choose his opponents. He will fight whoever is put in front of him.”

The MMA Wrap-Up is back for episode No. 2, and it’s time for a little compare and contrast, just like we learned in high school English class. Join me as I take a look back at last week’s Strikeforce and UFC events and ponder the question, how is it that one fighter is now a household name, while another, in many ways similar fighter, is still a relative unknown?

I promise, the discussion is more interesting on video than it sounds in the above sentence. At least, it is if you have a couple of minutes of your life that you wouldn’t mind throwing away by watching a guy sit behind a desk and tell you how it is. It’s sort of like a presidential address from the Oval Office in that way. Only on a slightly lower budget.

The full video of this week’s episode is below.

What a weekend. Two Zuffa events in two days, and sandwiched in between two Strikeforce cards on Showtime. It’s almost enough to make even the most hardcore fan take a night off to watch some “Top Chef” and wait for the testosterone levels to drop back to normal. Almost.

Rather than try to separate Saturday night’s action from Sunday’s – personally, the weekend’s all one bloody blur for me – let’s combine the two for a giant look at the good, the bad, and the staph-infected after the TUF 11 Finale and WEC 49.

LAS VEGAS — Court McGee pocketed a little extra cash to go along with his “Ultimate Fighter” trophy when he submitted Kris McCray at the Pearl at the Palms on Saturday night. His rear naked choke finish was the only submission on the fight card, and it more or less automatically netted him the $25,000 bonus for Submission of the Night.

Knockout of the Night went to heavy-handed southpaw Chris Leben, who sent Aaron Simpson staggering across the cage in the second round after several damaging punches, and the three-round battle between Keith Jardine and Matt Hamill earned Fight of the Night.

Other notes to come out of Saturday night’s post-fight press conference:
