Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano was made official last week when the news that the champ would face arguably her most formidable foe to date at UFC 184 in Los Angeles hit the wires.
Following the announcement, many wondered why Rousey, one of the UFC’s biggest draws, was placed in the co-main event for the second-straight event instead of headlining a card.
UFC President Dana White said where Rousey appears on a card has nothing to do with star power.

Dana White confirmed via Instagram on Wednesday that UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will defend his title against No. 1 contender Vitor Belfort in Los Angeles on Feb. 28 at UFC 184.

Phil Davis’ victory against Glover Teixeira shook up the majority of the light heavyweight division when the official rankings were released on Monday following UFC 179.

Davis moves up to No. 5, dropping Teixeira two spots down to No. 6. Anthony Johnson moves up two spots to No. 3, passing Rashad Evans, who falls to No. 4.

If former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is planning on making his return to the Octagon once his contract with World Wrestling Entertainment runs out, it is news to UFC president Dana White.
White and Lesnar still communicate regularly, and White said Brock hasn’t brought up a UFC comeback. But the boss also doesn’t rule it out.
“I have a great relationship with Brock, we talk all the time,” White said. “I don’t know, we’ll see. If he wants to fight, he knows my number.”

Georges St-Pierre received medical clearance on his injured left knee from his doctor in Los Angeles on Friday, UFC President Dana White told UFC.com.

GSP is now able to resume full MMA training just seven months after tearing his left ACL during a workout.
White and UFC chairman/CEO Lorenzo Fertitta flew to Montreal earlier this week to visit with St-Pierre, and White followed up on Friday to see how the former UFC welterweight champion was doing and if he had heard back from his doctor.
