UFC’s next show in Brazil has suffered another change, and that meant good news for Jungle Fight featherweight champion Edimilson Souza, who is the new addition to the 145-pound division.
Sam Sicilia was forced to leave the card for undisclosed reasons, and Souza got the call to replace him against Felipe “Sertanejo” Arantes on Sept. 4 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, at UFC Fight Night 28. Thiago Tavares, Souza’s manager and trainer, confirmed the change to MMAFighting.com. Combate.com first reported the news.
After suffering a loss in his UFC debut to Yuri Alcantara, “Sertanejo” went 2-0-1 inside the Octagon with wins over Antonio Carvalho and Godofredo Pepey. Souza, who is 13-3 in MMA, makes his UFC debut riding a 7-fight win streak, all victories by knockout.
