Thiago Silva released again from the UFC

Thiago Silva was released from his UFC contract. Again.

The Brazilian light heavyweight, who was re-signed after all charges against him were dropped, was cut from the promotion once again on Friday after his ex-wife, Thaysa Kamiji, posted a series of videos on YouTube.

In those videos, Kamiji claims Silva is on drugs while carrying a gun.

Thiago Silva was released from his UFC contract on Feb. 7 due to his arrest by police in South Florida. The charges against Silva were dropped by the Broward County District Attorney’s office and Silva was re-signed to the UFC earlier this month. Based on new information received today in the form of video and audio evidence, Silva has been terminated from his UFC contract.

Silva was arrested on Feb. 6 following an armed standoff with members of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office at his residence. According to a police report, Kamiji claimed that Silva had previously held a revolver inside her mouth, then later threatened to shoot up Pablo Popovitch’s school before a standoff with a SWAT team ended with a taser being deployed on Silva “for officer safety reasons.”

UFC president Dana White, who said Silva would never fight in the UFC again when he first released him in February, decided to sign him again when all charges were dropped.

Silva (16-3, 2 NC) leaves the promotion after winning seven of his 12 bouts inside the Octagon, with two no-contests. In his last appearances, Silva defeated Matt Hamill and Rafael Cavalcante.

Kamiji, who now lives in Abu Dhabi with Popovitch, spoke to MMAFighting.com about UFC’s decision to release Silva again.

“I never lied about anything I’ve said since the beginning,” Kamiji said. “Justice was made.”

Charges against Silva were dropped when Kamiji left the United States, and she said the police already knew she was about to leave the country.

“They already knew I had a job offer in Abu Dhabi and that was an opportunity to restart my career with the man of my life, doing what I love,” she said. “You have no idea how much I love this place. My husband is here for me when I need. We’re very happy. Everybody knew about this job.”

Kamiji said she decided to release the videos after Silva called her a liar on “The MMA Hour.”

“I dropped (the restraining order) so I wouldn’t have to come back to trial and risk losing my job, so I ended up helping Thiago. But I was pissed off when he decided to open his mouth. He should be thanking me, but people never change,” she said.

Here’s the full transcript of the videos:

Thiago Silva: Why did you call the police, honey? I didn’t do anything. Why are you filming me?
Thiago Silva: Honey, why are you doing this? Tell me.
Thaysa Kamiji: Can you leave the kitchen? I’m making food. Get out of the house.
Thiago Silva: Why did you do this?
Thaysa Kamiji: Get out of the house. Get out of the house. I don’t want a junkie in my house.
Thaysa Kamiji: Thiago, stop looking at me like that. Give me the gun, please. I’m here.
Thiago Silva: So turn off that camera. I know you’re hiding someone upstairs. You think I’m a fool?
Thaysa Kamiji: (Hiding) who, Thiago?
Thiago Silva: I’m not an idiot. Honey, you’re putting this light in my face so I can’t see anything. Get this thing off of
me.
Thaysa Kamiji: No, Thiago. Because if I do, this is proof.
Thiago Silva: Proof of what? You’re not going to die. You’re lying. Someone’s here and will do something, I’m not na idiot.
Thaysa Kamiji: Thiago, one day you’ll kill me because of this addiction.
Thiago Silva: I won’t kill you, and you’re doing something inside (this house).
Thaysa Kamiji: Doing what, Thiago?
Thiago Silva: You called someone here, Thaysa. I know. I’m not an idiot.
Thaysa Kamiji: I didn’t call anyone here. Thiago, it’s you. I’m filming you.
Thiago Silva: Why are you doing this?
Thaysa Kamiji: So when you’re normal, you can see what you did. You grabbed a gun.
Thiago Silva: I didn’t do anything. Stop, Thaysa, stop lying.
Thaysa Kamiji: Lie? You just grabbed a gun with your hand.
Thiago Silva: I have it on my pocket. I didn’t do anything.

Bellator MMA will return to Iowa in October, and the first bout of the card is already set.

Sources close to the situation told MMAFighting.com that Strikeforce veteran James Terry is set to collide with Brazilian welterweight Andre Santos at the Bellator 129 card on Oct. 17.

Terry (14-7) looks for his first win under the Bellator banner after coming up short against Rick Reeves in his promotional debut in April. He scored a first-round TKO win over Daniel McWilliams at Battle of the Bay 3 in July. Terry went 6-4 in Strikeforce between 2009-12.

Santos (36-9) makes his Bellator debut riding a five-fight winning streak. The grappling wizard finished 22 of his 36 professional victories via submission, including 15 anaconda chokes.

The event takes place at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bellator last hosted a card in the city in April, when Douglas Lima scored a TKO victory over Rick Hawn to win the vacant welterweight championship.

Cris Cyborg: ‘Uneducated’ Ronda Rousey is running away from me

Ronda Rousey took a shot at Cris Cyborg during her recent trip to Rio de Janeiro, and the Invicta FC featherweight champion has decided to fire back.

Rousey criticized Cyborg’s “horrendous” technique, said the Brazilian takes steroids because she “lacks self-confidence.”

“And the way that she is on the ground, it’s absolute horrendous. And her distance is absolute horrendous,” Rousey said. “The only thing that she has is pace and power, and I have pace, precision and power.”

Cyborg, who tested positive for stanozolol in 2011 following a 16-second knockout victory in Strikeforce, responded in an interview to MMAFighting.com.

“What she says means nothing to me,” Cyborg said. “A person is visiting my country and trying to defame me with my fans to get attention shows you how uneducated she is. She’s a low-level person. She feels she has to step on someone in order to rise.”

Rousey said she was open to fight her, but the Brazilian “asked to be released from the UFC 24 hours after the announcement of out-of-competition drug testing.”

Cyborg is not so sure she would fight her, though.

“As always, (Rousey) is trying to pick her next opponent. She is running away from me and asking to fight Bethe (Correia),” she said. “If she was so sure about everything she says, she would have already accepted to fight me like she accepted to fight Gina Carano at any weight, fight Cain Velasquez, (Floyd) Mayweather. Grow up, Ronda.”

According to the Brazilian, Rousey is jealous about the attention a non-UFC fighter gets from media and fans.

“It’s funny she says I dishonored the sport and my country, but everybody wants to see me fight her. That might frustrate her,” she said. “If you think about it, there are only a handful of people that have never fought in the UFC and are known worldwide. I’m proud to know that I never needed an event to promote me, and I never had to lie about anyone. I’m known worldwide for my talent and my team, Chute Boxe.”

Cyborg is expected to make her bantamweight debut in an Invicta FC card in December.

‘Jacare’ Souza expected ‘tougher fight’ against Gegard Mousasi

Ronaldo Souza dominated Gegard Mousasi to win his fourth bout inside the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 50 in Connecticut, and he wasn’t expecting to finish Mousasi.

“I was waiting for a five-round fight,” Souza told MMAFighting.com. “I was ready for a tougher fight. I was training for a tougher fight. I wanted to submit him, of course, but I wasn’t expecting to submit him. I was expecting a tougher fight. He has a huge name, a great record, and he was coming off a big win over Mark Munoz, so I respected him a lot.”

Riding an impressive seven-fight winning streak with six stoppages, “Jacare” credits his team in Rio de Janeiro for his recent victories.

“I’m really happy with my performance. I think I had a good performance,” he said. “I was able to put on everything I trained with my coaches Josuel Distak, Rogerio Camoes and Pedro Rizzo, and I have to thank everyone who helped me at X-Gym. Everybody did their best to help me, and I everything happened as I expected.”

“Jacare” asked for a shot at the middleweight title following his win over Mousasi, and offered himself to be the ‘plan B’ in case Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort, scheduled for Dec. 6 at UFC 181, falls through.

“I want to fight the man who has the title,” he said. “My goal is to fight for the title. We’ll see what happens.

“The middleweight division is pretty deep, but I see myself ahead of everyone else right now. I’ve fought more than anyone, and I’ve earned a shot at the title. I’m ready to fight for the title. I’ve proved it.”
