While Strikeforce has delivered on exciting event after exciting event
in recent months, Friday’s “Strikeforce Challengers VI: Kaufman vs. Hashi”
event in San Jose, Calif., started with a bang but went out with a whimper.
While the evening’s opening bouts brought the San Jose Civic
Auditorium to its feet, a freak accident in the Showtime broadcast’s
co-feature and a 25-minute main event often lacking in action left the
show ending on a bit of a down note.
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Well, you can’t win ’em all.

The concept behind Strikeforce’s Challengers series events is the
opportunity to introduce the viewing public to potential rising stars.
Frenchman Karl Amoussou, who faces Trevor Prangley at tonight’s
“Strikeforce Challengers VI: Kaufman vs. Hashi” event, believes he’s one
of those names you should know.
In fact, as “Psycho” told MMAjunkie.com Radio, he believes he’s actually two names you should know.

Former Olympian Rick Hawn (5-0) reached a conclusion that’s well-known
to many international competitors: you can’t eat gold medals.
With that in mind, the 33-year-old Hawn, who faces Tom Gallicchio
tonight in the main event of World Championship Fighting 9 in Wilmington, Mass., scrambled
to fulfill a long-held dream of fighting in mixed martial arts and
competed in his first fight within six months of picking up a
four-ounce glove.
“I don’t want to get caught up as just a grappler, because that makes
you one-dimensional and easy to figure out,” Hawn recently told MMAjunkie.com.

You’ll excuse Strikeforce’s Trevor Prangley (22-5 MMA, 3-1 SF) if he’s not buying into the hype.
Prangley’s opponent at tonight’s “Strikeforce Challengers VI: Kaufman
vs. Hashi” event in San Jose, Calif., Karl Amoussou (11-2-1 MMA, 0-0
SF), enters the contest as a much ballyhooed prospect. But Prangley, a
nine-year veteran, has dealt with his share of young contenders.
“I’ve fought a lot of guys that are really skilled, but I’ve always
been able to implement my pace and my gameplan,” Prangley recently told
MMAjunkie.com Radio. “I don’t think this will
be any different.”
