Cesar Gracie: I could prepare Jose Canseco for Herschel Walker in three months

When former baseball star and “Bash Brother” Jose Canseco called out
Herschel Walker on his official Twitter account recently, fans and
media dismissed it as a publicity stunt.

But Canseco has at least one man in his corner should he decide to make good on his wish to fight Walker: Cesar Gracie.

Gracie spoke recently with Canseco’s manager and said he is open to
training the controversial slugger. Gracie explained his rationale
behind taking the assignment to MMAjunkie.com.

MMAjunkie.com poll results: How much would you pay for a WEC pay-per-view?

We know what the executives at World Extreme Cagefighting think, but what about the fans?

In our latest MMAjunkie.com poll, we asked our readers (prior to the official announcement of WEC 48’s $44.99 price tag) what they would be willing to pay for an impressive WEC fight card.

While readers almost certainly could not have anticipated WEC 48’s first three official fights would be quite as impressive as they turned out to be, the results of the poll would not seem to bode well for the WEC’s foray into pay-per-view.

WEC 47 features five-fight main card; Pulver vs. Vazquez rounds out Versus broadcast

While the organization’s first venture into pay-per-view has been the main focus of this week’s WEC-related news, the company is also in the final stages of preparing for a March 6 event in Columbus, Ohio.

Today, those plans included some good news for viewers of the Versus-broadcast event.

WEC officials today announced that “WEC 47: Bowles vs. Cruz” will feature a five-fight main card. A featherweight contest between MMA legend Jens Pulver (22-12 MMA, 1-4 WEC) and Javier Vazquez (13-4 MMA, 0-2 WEC) rounds out the previously announced main-card lineup.

“UFC 112: Invincible” headed to pay-per-view in U.S.; event airs live at 1 p.m. ET

With just three fights officially announced for the UFC’s first-ever trip to the United Arab Emirates, “UFC 112: Invincible” already has the makings of one of the highest-profile cards in the history of the promotion.

But with Anderson Silva prepared to defend his title against Vitor Belfort and lightweight champ B.J. Penn locking up with Frankie Edgar at the April 10 event, many U.S.-based fans wondered exactly how they were going to be able to see the UFC’s first-ever open-air event.

Unsurprisingly, the answer is on pay-per-view.
