Kizer welcomes Strikeforce to Las Vegas, though April date “not very likely”

Recent reports have stated that Strikeforce may be eyeing the UFC’s
center of operations, Las Vegas, for its April return to CBS airwaves.

The only problem? Strikeforce has yet to apply for a promoter’s license in the state of Nevada.

Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer
recently told MMAjunkie.com that Strikeforce asked
for an application in late 2009, but he has yet to see a completed
form. And with just three months until the proposed event, Kizer said
getting the deal done in time “would be very, very difficult.”

As Kampmann preps for Saunders, future dates with Swick, Daley also in the plans

UFC welterweight contender Martin Kampmann (16-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) has
twice been on the verge of a title shot, only to come up just short on
each occasion.

Such was the case when Kampmann was defeated this past September by British slugger Paul Daley.

While the loss was certainly disappointing for Kampmann, “Hitman”
recently told MMAjunkie.com Radio that he’s
already traveling the path back to title contention.

Ambriz out as Lashley opponent, officials at “square one” on replacement (Updated)

The search for Bobby Lashley’s opponent continues.

Strikeforce officials on Tuesday afternoon told MMAjunkie.com that journeyman heavyweight Jimmy Ambriz (14-12-1
MMA, 0-0 SF) is not fighting the former pro wrestler at “Strikeforce:
Miami,” despite a seal of approval from the Florida State Boxing
Commission.

Despite the latest setback, officials said they feel confident a
replacement opponent will be found in time for the Jan. 30 event, which
features a welterweight title bout between Nick Diaz and Marius
Zaromskis and will be broadcast live on Showtime.

Despite apparent title snub, Hieron happy with Strikeforce and feeling “like a ninja”

Simply put, Jay Hieron has not always had the best of luck in his MMA career.

After dealing with the collapse of both the IFL and Affliction, Hieron recently watched a contracted Strikeforce title fight with Nick Diaz go up in smoke through no fault of his own. Now Hieron fights Joe Riggs on Jan. 30 at
“Strikeforce: Miami,” while DREAM champ Marius Zaromskis faces Diaz for
the vacant Strikeforce belt.

So with all the turmoil in front of him, how does Hieron feel? Like a ninja.

With Haitian relatives now safe, WEC’s Mackens Semerzier asks fans for support

Most of us will never fully understand the amount of destruction this
past week’s earthquake delivered to the impoverished nation of Haiti.

WEC featherweight Mackens Semerzier is not one of those people.

Born in Florida to Haitian parents and married to a Haitian wife,
Semerzier waited days to learn the fate of many of his family members
who remained in the Caribbean nation. While his family survived the
disaster, Semerzier knows there are many others still in need. Now he’s
turning to the MMA community for assistance.
