UFC president Dana White said as much Friday following the post-fight news conference for UFC on FX 3, which took place at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla.

Lombard, the recently signed former Bellator middleweight champion, brings a 25-fight unbeaten streak to the UFC.

SUNRISE, Fla. – The UFC’s return to South Florida was five years in the making. Unfortunately for area fans, it might be another five before the next visit – if not more.

UFC president Dana White, following Friday’s UFC on FX 3 card, said he was disappointed in the turnout – and that continued trouble with ticket sales in the Florida market have him perplexed.

When reminded at the post-fight news conference that it had been a while since the UFC had been to South Florida, White quickly quipped, “It’s going to be a while again.”

That news came out earlier this month. But on Friday, White expanded on Rua’s decision to turn down a fight with the new UFC light heavyweight prospect – saying the former champion was even willing to be released from the organization rather than take a fight with Teixeira.

“He would rather be cut than fight him,” White said.

It stands to reason the two flyweights could go another three rounds and still not have things truly settled. But on Friday, it was Johnson who finally emerged as the other half of the UFC’s first 125-pound title fight. Johnson took a unanimous decision with scores of 29-28, 30-27 and 29-28.
