A report surfaced today that the UFC has signed two new heavyweights to meet at UFC 119, and MMA Fighting has confirmed from a source close to the organization that Sean McCorkle and Pride and K-1 veteran Mark Hunt will fight in Indianapolis.
Though UFC 119 has not yet been officially announced, it is expected to take place at Conseco Fieldhouse, home of the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, on Sept. 25. The Hunt-McCorkle bout is slated for the preliminary card, according to the source.
MMA Junkie first reported the news on Wednesday, and MMA Fighting has confirmed from a source close to Sherk’s camp that the former UFC lightweight champion will be back on the Indianapolis card on Sept. 25.
Sherk (33-4-1, 7-4 UFC) last fought at UFC 98 in May 2009, where he lost a unanimous decision to future champion Frankie Edgar. Following the fight, in an odd turn of events, Sherk ran from the MGM Grand Garden Arena and was tracked down nearly a mile away, still needing to submit his post-fight urinalysis.

Stephan Bonnar will return to the broadcast table for WEC 50 at The Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas on Aug. 18.
The UFC light heavyweight told the news to MMA Fighting on Wednesday, and sources close to the WEC have confirmed that Bonnar will be doing color commentary for the event alongside play-by-play voice Todd Harris.
Bonnar first worked color commentary for the promotion at WEC 47 in Columbus, Ohio, in March.
“I love doing it – to get the opportunity to do it is just a blessing,” Bonnar said. “I can’t believe they called me up to do it, and they liked my performance the first time and they want me back. Whenever they ask me to do it, I’m game.”

With three straight losses, Stephan Bonnar is feeling the pressure.
Despite UFC president Dana White’s statements in the past that Bonnar will always have a home in the organization thanks to his epic battle with Forrest Griffin in the finale of Season 1 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” a fourth straight loss would have most fighters staring at a pink slip.
His last setback was a controversial TKO loss thanks to a cut from an inadvertent headbutt against Krzysztof Soszynski at UFC 110 in Sydney. Bonnar appealed that decision, hoping to have the loss overturned to a no contest. That appeal was denied, the loss stood and Bonnar now finds himself in a must-win situation in his rematch with Soszynski on Saturday at UFC 116.
“I don’t think (losing the appeal) adds any pressure,” Bonnar said. “I already feel a ton of pressure. Every fight I usually do. But this one here, I’m kind of looking at like do or die. I want to be aggressive, throw lots of punches and just do everything I can to win. Usually, the faster the pace of the fight, the better I do. So I’m looking forward to him pushing the pace.”

The way Chris Lytle is going, he might have to change his nickname – and not because another “Lights Out,” James Toney, is now in the UFC.
“Mr. Bonus,” perhaps? Lytle, one of the UFC’s longest standing veterans, has won bonus awards in four straight matches and seven of his last nine. Getting his name called by Dana White at the post-fight press conference practically has become an automatic. But Lytle told MMA Fighting on Wednesday he’s not ready to change his nickname just yet – with implied emphasis on the “yet.”
“Maybe if I get to the 10 bonus point, I can start thinking about that,” Lytle said. “But you’ve got to at least get to double digits first.”
Lytle has a good chance to creep one notch closer on Saturday night at UFC 116. His main-card welterweight bout with Matt Brown has all the makings of another Fight of the Night.
