In one of the strangest endings you’ll ever see in any sporting event, K-1 legend Jerome Le Banner fought a brutal three-round battle with his opponent Kyotaro, then walked out of the ring and refused to fight a fourth overtime round when the judges ruled the first three rounds a draw.
“I left when the judges said it was a draw. No, It was not a draw. I had one more point,” Le Banner said after the fight. “It was not fair. They wanted something more, it was not fair. It was not fair.”
As a result, Kyotaro was ruled the winner of the match by forfeit. So Kyotaro wins at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2010 Final 16 in Seoul and will advance to the Final 8 in December.

The reigning king of kickboxing held on to his crown after a much closer fight than expected, with Semmy Schilt winning a hard-fought decision after nine minutes of fighting a game Hesdy Gerges at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2010 Final 16 in Seoul.
“I think it was a very tough fight,” Schilt said afterward. “It was probably the toughest K-1 fight for me recently.”
The enormous Schilt threw jab after jab after jab in the first round, and although Gerges blocked a lot of Schilt’s punches, enough of them got through that Gerges had a welt on his forehead by the end of the first round. Schilt was mixing in body kicks with his jabs, while Gerges was accomplishing almost nothing offensively.

Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem, who’s taking a break from MMA to fight in Japan’s major kickboxing promotion, showed once again that he’s one of the best kickboxers in the world by winning a first-round technical knockout over Ben Edwards at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2010 Final 16 in Seoul.
The massive Overeem brutalized Edwards with power punches, knocking Edwards down three times to end the fight emphatically.
“I hope you enjoyed my fight,” Overeem said afterward. “I fight for the fans. You’re awesome.” Overeem also dedicated the fight to someone he knew who was killed in action in Afghanistan.

George Roop landed a vicious left kick to Chan Sung Jung‘s head in the second round of their fight at WEC 51, knocking Jung unconscious and ending the fight suddenly and dramatically.
Jung, better known as The Korean Zombie, became a fan favorite for his brawl with Leonard Garcia at WEC 48. But that fight was full of sloppy technique and lacking in any defense, and Roop showed against Jung how easy it is for a fighter to exploit those problems.

But the event still includes (by my count) eight of the Top 10 heavyweight kickboxers in the world, a collection of talent you almost never see on one fight card, in any combat sport.
So if you’re an American fan staying up very late Friday night or getting up very early Saturday morning to watch on HDNet, you’re not going to be disappointed. We’ve got the full preview and predictions below.
