UFC is one of the most exciting sports in the world. The only thing better than watching two top athletes match their skills head to head is getting paid to do do it. That’s why we’re offering this handy guide to help you maximize your profits betting on UFC 172. Since UFC gives out bonus awards for the best fights, we’re giving out our own awards for the best money-making bets.
Parlay of the Night: Jim Miller (-210), Danny Castillo (-300), and Phil Davis (-250) – A $50 bet will payout $87.00 @Bovada.Iv Odds
Parlay betting is one of the highest-reward options for UFC betting. You pick more than one winner, and in order to win the bet, all of your picks must win. Obviously it’s harder to pick more winning fighters, and so the payoff from a successful parlay is much larger. UFC 172 has a great opportunity for a parlay bet in the trio of Miller, Castillo, and Davis. All three are heavy favorites, which means individual bets on them wouldn’t offer much reward. By adding them together, you can massively boost your potential payout. Head over to bovada.lv and turn UFC 172 into a big moneymaker for you.
Lock of the Night: Phil Davis (-250) over Anthony Johnson – A $50 bet will pay out $20 or use Davis in a parlay @Bovada.Iv Odds
Favorite of the Night with the Lowest Odds: Andre Fili (-160) over Max Holloway – A $50 bet will payout $31.00 @Bovada.Iv Odds
Betting on a favorite doesn’t offer the same reward as picking underdogs, but sometimes a nice safe lock is a good way to turn a profit on an event. At UFC 172, the safest bet is Andre Fili at -160 over Max Holloway. Fili is a devastating striker with a better-rounded offense than Holloway. Bovada.lv has you covered with the best odds on UFC 172′s best betting opportunity.
Prop of the Night: Jon “Bones” Jones to win in Under 3.5 Rounds (-145) – A $50 bet pays out $34.00 @Betonline.com Odds
Straight bets aren’t the only way to make money betting on MMA. Prop, or proposition bets, tend to offer a huge value. Our friends over at BETONLINE are offering a straight bet on Jon Jones to retain his UFC title in the first half of his fight. Teixeira is tough, but Jones has a tendency to overwhelm even the best opponents quickly, so this is a great value bet for the main event of UFC 172.
Underdog of the Night: Patrick Williams (+110) over Chris Beal (-140) – A $50 bet will payout $55.00 @Bovada.Iv Odds
Both of these guys are relative unknowns making their UFC debut. Beal’s undefeated record has him as the betting favorite, but Williams is a more prolific finisher and has fought better opponents. At +110, Williams is the night’s most attractive underdogg.
Longshot of the Night: Isaac Vallie-Flagg (+175) over Takanori Gomi (-225) – A $25 bet will pay out $44.00 @Bovada.Iv Odds
The key to success in betting on UFC is to be consistent and avoid big risks. The only way to get big payouts, though, is to take some bigger risks. Gomi is a heavy favorite here, but part of that is due to his name recognition. This isn’t the same Gomi who dominated PRIDE, and at +175 Vallie-Flagg is a very interesting value pick.

UFC Light Heavyweight Title Bout: Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixiera
Odds: ( -550 Jones/ +375 Teixeira )
Betting Pick: Jones
Bet on this fight at Bovada
In the main event of UFC 172, UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones will defend his 205 pound title against up-and-coming striking phenom Glover Teixeira. So far, Jones has handled every challenge that has been put in front of him, but I don’t think he’s had to fight anyone with Teixeira’s boxing prowess or one-punch knockout power. There is little question that Jones can hold his own no matter where a fight plays out, but when a guy has the kind of instant knockout power Teixeira has, you have to fight cautiously and not let your aggression betray you.
Glover Teixeira is easily the most exciting and promising young fighter in the UFC Light Heavyweight division. His boxing technique is extremely good, and every single punch he throws is a potential fight-ender. Unlike many modern fighters, Teixeira is very much a specialist. THat isn’t to say that he can’t wrestle or grapple, but there is no question that his strategy is always to move forward, throw punches, and look for the knockout. Against Jones, he’s going to have to fight very smart and pretty much mistake-free. If he leaves openings, Jones can not only punish him with counter punching, he can take him down and hold him there. On his back underneath Jones is the last place Teixeira wants to end up, so he’s going to have to try to control his aggression, especially in the early rounds when Jones is still fresh.
Obviously, Jon “Bones” Jones is the UFC’s most dominant Light Heavyweight. His mixture of size, reach, strength, athleticism, punching power, and wrestling is totally unique in the division. That said, Alexander Gustafsson proved conclusively that Jones is a human being with weaknesses that can be exploited. Against Teixeira, who possesses brutal knockout power, Jones probably doesn’t want to stand in front of him and box for five rounds. That’s not to say he should abandon his striking fully, but he should try to use it to create space and set up takedowns instead of being content to stand and trade. On the ground, in top position, Jones has the strength and ability to neutralize Teixeira quite effectively.
Honestly, I think this is the toughest fight Jones has had to face to date. Gustafsson was a tough style matchup, but Teixeira’s knockout power adds an entire layer of danger to this fight. That said, I don’t think Teixeira has the versatility to deal with Jones for five rounds. Jones is just so much better at wrestling and fighting on the ground that Teixeira is going to have his hands full. Obviously, Glover always has a puncher’s chance, but I think it much more likely that Jones will force this fight to the ground and punish Teixeira from top position en route to an eventual T/KO win.
Prediction: Jon Jones by third round T/KO.

Current UFC 172 Betting Odds – On Saturday, April 26, 2014, UFC 172 will air live on Pay Per View from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. In the main event, UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones will defend his title against surging slugger Glover Teixeira. Jones has more than proven himself a worthy champion, but Teixeira is a hungry, dangerous fighter with the ability to turn someone’s lights off really, really quickly. This has all the makings of a brutal, exciting, main event.
In the semi-main event, two of the Welterweight division’s most effective wrestlers will square off as Anthony “Rumble” Johnson takes on Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis. Both of these guys are strong, athletic, effective wrestlers with a lot of gas in the tank, so this should be a great fight and an interesting style matchup. The rest of the card features Tim Boetsch against Luke Rockhold, Jim Miller versus Bobby Green and Andre Fili against Max Holloway
