After seeing a fight vanish before his eyes, Phillipe Nover realized he was doing things the wrong way.
On Sept. 16, the day he was supposed to fight Sam Stout at UFC Fight Night 19 in Oklahoma City, state athletic commission officials scratched Nover from the card.
Commission officials said “The Ultimate Fighter 8” runner-up suffered a seizure; Nover said he merely fainted. Either way, the lightweight fighter earned medical clearance for next week’s UFC 109 event and, in light of the past incidents, said he’s been “more professional” about his training and fight prep.

“The Ultimate Fighter 3” alumnus Matt Hamill hopes to begin training again on Feb. 1 but still suffers from shoulder pain as a result of his bout with Jon Jones this past December.
Hamill was declared the victor in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale when Jones threw several illegal elbows and was disqualified in the first round.
“He’s taking it day by day,” Hamill’s manager, Duff Holmes, told MMAjunkie.com on Tuesday. “We want to be training, but the injury is just so painful, so we’ll have to see how it goes.”
