Despite some concerns about the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s ability to find a suitable venue, the fight promotion has secured an outdoor arena and hosts UFC 112 on April 10 in the United Arab Emirates.

The event takes place in Abu Dhabi at Concert Arena at the Ferrari World theme park on Yas Island.

Confirmed championship co-headliners previously reported for the long-rumored event include UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort and lightweight champ B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar.

LAS VEGAS – With “The Ultimate Fighter 11” now in production, head coach Tito Ortiz today confirmed his assistant coaches: WEC fighter Rob McCullough, veteran trainer and “TUF 3” assistant coach Saul Soliz, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu/judo black belt Cleber Luciano.

On the same show in which Hansen faltered against Aoki, the Vancouver-based Fernandes capped an impressive run to best top-10 ranked Hiroyuki Takaya for the vacant featherweight belt in the first-ever DREAM featherweight grand prix.

LAS VEGAS – Chuck Liddell has put together his coaching squad for the upcoming 11th season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

MMAjunkie.com today confirmed at the “TUF 11” media day that his coaches include longtime trainer John Hackleman, former Olympic gold medalist boxer Howard Davis Jr., jiu-jitsu ace Scott Epstein, and Strikeforce champ Jake Shields.

“TUF 11” production began over the weekend, and the season debut is set for March 31 on Spike TV.

With the main card just about complete, WEC 47’s preliminary card is starting to take shape.

World Extreme Cagefighting officials today announced a bantamweight matchup between Chad George (11-4 MMA, 1-0 WEC) and rising contender Scott Jorgensen (8-3 MMA, 4-2 WEC) is now part of the March 6 event.

WEC 47 takes place at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
