Current Mayweather vs. Cotto Betting Odds – On Saturday, May 5, 2012, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, widely-regard pound for pound king Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr. will move up yet again, this time to challenge for Miguel Cotto’s WBA Junior Middleweight Title. Obviously, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao was the fight everyone wanted to see, but this just about the best possible fight for Mayweather outside of a meeting with his Filipino rival. Cotto, since losing to Pacquiao in 2009, has rattled off three straight impressive wins, including TKO destructions of Ricardo Mayorga and disgraced rival Antonio Margarito. Cotto appears to be in top form heading into this fight, which is a good thing, because Mayweather has built a legacy out of moving up in weight only to make his opponents look like amateurs instead of champions. Mayweather may well be the most hated athlete in the world, but even his most vicious critics cannot deny that his match of speed, technique, power, and defensive acumen are unmatched in the sport today. Another title in another weight class could conceivably put Mayweather in the discussion for greatest fighter in boxing history, and with talks of his fight with Pacquiao never happening dominating the discussion, he needs an emphatic win, especially as Pacquiao prepares to face a much less legitimate opponent. Cotto is going to need by far the best performance of his career if he wants to put the first blemish on Mayweather’s record, and if his last outings are any indication, he will show up ready to fight at the top level.
Mayweather’s Last 5 Fights:

- Win over Ricardo Mayorga by TKO.
- Win over Yuri Foreman by TKO.
- Loss to Manny Pacquiao by TKO.
- Win over Joshua Clottey by Split Decision.

The undercard is also pretty stacked considering what major fight the main event is. In the semi-main event, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will look to defend his WBC Junior Middleweight Title against former multiple-time titlist “Sugar” Shane Mosley. This makes this a very interesting card overall, as the Junior Middleweight division could look completely different on May 6 if Mosley can turn in a vintage performance against Alvarez. Also featured will be a 10-round bout between Welterweights Jessie Vargas and Steve Forbes and another 10-rounder pitting Junior Middleweight Carlos Quintana against Deandre Latimore.
