Adrien Broner is set to headline a PBC show this Friday on Spike, but he’s also currently facing a felony assault charge. Get the details here.
This Friday, April 1, Adrien Broner is scheduled to headline the latest Premier Boxing Championship event as he takes on Ashley Theophane. However, in the past week, an unexpected wrinkle has been added that could derail the fight entirely.
According to several reports, Broner is currently facing felony assault and aggravated robbery charges stemming from an incident outside of a Cincinnati bowling alley in January. In that incident, Broner allegedly engaged in a series of high-stakes bets with another customer of the alley. According to reports, after Broner lost $14,000 and the other man left, Broner punched the man in the parking lot, threatened him with a gun, and took $12,000 from him. The Cincinnati police currently have warrants out for Broner’s arrest.
ESPN reached out to both Spike (who will air the fight) and Broner for comment. Spike stated that they are looking in to the issue, however as of Monday morning, the fight is still scheduled to take place.
Broner’s only comment on the issue to ESPN: “I’m good.”
PBC Boxing Broner vs. Theophane airs this Friday, April 1 live on Spike TV with a fight time of 9:00 p.m. ET. The fight takes place at the DC Armory in Washington DC.
