Tyrone Spong is currently booked to fight at World Series of Fighting 3 on June 14 and GLORY 9 kickboxing on June 22. However, there’s a chance he may not fight on either card.
WSOF recently officially announced that Spong (1-0 MMA; 69-6-1, 1 NC kickboxing) would fight Angel DeAnda in the co-main event of their upcoming June 14 show in Las Vegas, as first reported on MMAFighting.com. According to his manager Glenn Robinson of Authentic Sports Management, he also verbally agreed to fight in a kickboxing match on the June 22 GLORY show in New York City. Spong is currently featured on both promotions’ event posters (GLORY and WSOF).
Spong’s intentions, which were made clear to both promotions, was to fight eight days apart for both organizations, however, he is currently awaiting a new visa while in his adopted home country of Holland, which could rule him out of one, if not both fights.
Robinson said if Spong doesn’t receive his new visa in approximately four weeks, there’s a strong chance he’ll have to pull out of both events because he’ll be unable to get enough training time with his Blackzilians team in South Florida.
If, say, his new visa is issued in approximately three weeks, there’s a chance he will pull out of the WSOF fight because, according to Robinson, he isn’t as well-versed in MMA and feels he will not have enough time to prepare for his second pro fight. Robinson said Spong isn’t privy to adequate MMA training in Holland. He would, however, be willing to remain on the GLORY card.
So as of right now, the 27-year-old Spong has agreed to fight for two organizations, in two different promotions, eight days apart. Whether or not that happens, remains to be seen.
