After Kendall Grove’s PED accusations, Brandon Halsey clean in out-of-competition testing

Kendall Grove thinks Brandon Halsey is “juiced up,” but a drug test tells a different story.

Both Grove and Halsey came back clean in out-of-competition drug testing done by the California State Athletic Commission this week, executive officer Andy Foster told MMAFighting.com on Tuesday. Halsey will defend his Bellator middleweight title against Grove in the main event of Bellator 137 on Friday night in Temecula.

Grove has been adamant that he knows Halsey is using performance-enhancing drugs.

“Let’s just say I have friends that use to train with him and he left an email open,” Grove told The MMA Report. “In that email, there was like a chemist list of a bunch of sh*t that was address to him about how to cycle on and off. No way you can look the way he looks with all of those veins and stuff. F*ck him. Piece of sh*t.”

Grove was also unhappy that the two men were not tested before the fight, but they were by CSAC just last week. The results were expedited and came back Tuesday.

Halsey responded to Grove’s accusations on Twitter, saying Grove was just saying those things for attention.

You rarely see someone making an excuse for losing before they lose. Weird move. @Jason_Floyd @kendallgrovemma

Halsey (8-0) won the title from Alexander Shlemenko by submission in just 35 seconds last September. This will be his first title defense. The 28-year-old won Bellator’s season 10 middleweight tournament. He’s a former college wrestler at California State Bakersfield.

Grove (21-14, 1 NC) is a long time veteran of MMA. He’s an alum of The Ultimate Fighter 3 and fought in the UFC from 2006 to 2011. The Hawaiian has won three of his last four fights and is coming off a second-round submission win over Christian M’Pumbu last October. Grove, 32, has notable wins over Evan Tanner, Derek Brunson and Alan Belcher.
