After string of BJJ opponents, UFC 114’s Mevin Guillard happy to stand and bang

Melvin Guillard is still learning the virtues of patience. But if he gets the fight he wants next Saturday at UFC 114, he’ll have gotten his payoff.

Guillard, 27, fights short-notice replacement Waylon Lowe on the pay-per-view event’s non-televised preliminary card, which takes place May 29 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Although he admits it’s a dangerous fight, Guillard is hopeful Lowe will let him use his moneymakers: his fists.
