“I just don’t know what to do now” the former flyweight title contender wrote in a heartfelt plea on social media.

It sounds like the last few months have really taken their toll on former flyweight title contender Jessica Eye. After a rough early UFC run in the women’s bantamweight division, Eye reinvented herself back down at flyweight, picking up three straight victories on her way to fighting Valentina Shevchenko for the title. The title fight may not have gone the way she would have hoped, but Eye bounced back with a win over Viviane Araujo, before taking another recent loss to Cynthia Calvillo.

However, in the background of those last three bouts, Eye was apparently dealing with other major life struggles; intermittent abdominal pain, light-headedness, and even occasional vision problems have plagued the former Strong Style fighter over the last year.

She missed weight for each of her last two bouts. And eventually Eye says the pain became too much to take. So, Eye checked herself into the hospital, where she found that her gallbladder had to be removed. What’s more, she suffered a case of staph following the surgery.

“On August 12 I had my Galbladdar removed because of lack of function and ability to save the destroyed organ due to doctors orders,” Eye wrote of her recent experiences. “I have yet to fully recover and figure out this new body I am living in. Not to mention I got Staph in my belly button due to laparoscopic surgery and finally finishing antibiotics for that.”

Now coming off antibiotics, and struggling hard to regain her appetite and the kind of physical activity that being a pro athlete requires, Eye has turned to social media looking for possible next steps and solutions to her ailments. In a lengthy post on Twitter she detailed her recent struggles in a hope to find some good advice.

“It now Sept 1 and I am in need of help !” Eye explained. “I am not sure where to turn right now with what to do next. I feel the doctors took out my organ and just said figure it out. I am struggling DEEPLY to eat, feel good and get back to any type of physical activity. I don’t know what to do anymore and I feel i am inadequate to get myself thru this and be able to return to normal life and the octagon !

“If anyone can point me in the directions to get help I am begging I just don’t know what to do now and i dont want to just give up”

Hopefully Eye can find some good advice on the road to recovery, and get back to competition soon.
