After a disappointing loss to Nick Diaz in the headliner of UFC 137 last weekend, former two division UFC champ BJ Penn told color commentator Joe Rogan that he had had enough and didn’t want to go home to his family battered and bruised anymore.

Penn lost a split decision to Diaz, in a three round match that saw both men take a nasty beating.

With speculation running amok on the web as to whether or not this was really the end for Penn, the Hawaiian fighter posted a message to his fans on Monday from his site BJPenn.com.

“I want to thank all the fans for their love and support. I have decided to take some time off to enjoy life, train and teach. I will keep you guys posted with what’s next.”

I’m certain that Penn will take some time off, but it’s likely we’ll see him back again as I’m sure UFC President Dana White will offer him some generous compensation to fight again in the Octagon.
